India set huge target for Australia

In today’s match of ICC cricket world cup 2019, a superb century by Shikhar Dhawan and valuable knock from skipper Virat Kohli, India posted a massive 352/5 against Australia at The Oval. This is now India's 4th highest team total in the World Cup and the highest score by ateam against Australia in the World Cup.

Shikhar Dhawan made 117 off 109 balls, while Kholi missed his ton getting out for 82 in the final over. For Australia, Marcus Stoinis took two wickets while Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Coulter-Nile took a wicket each.

After electing to bat, India got off to a solid as both openers added 127 runs for the first wicket before Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Coulter-Nile in the 23rd over just after he reached his half-century. During his knock, Rohit Sharma became the fourth batsman in world cricket to hit 2,000 ODI runs against Australia.

Dhawan then kept India going and hit his 17th ODI century. In the 37th over, Starc got rid of Dhawan. However, Pandya and Kohli continued the momentum smashing Australian bowlers all over the park. Pandya made a fiery 48 off 27 balls hitting three sixes and four boundaries. MS Dhoni too chipped in with 14-ball-27 as India set a mammoth target for the defending champions. Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat first.
