World Cup 2019, India sets 324 runs target for Pakistan

In today’s much-anticipated of ICC cricket world cup 2019, a superb century by Rohit Sharma and valuable knock from skipper Virat Kohli, India posted a massive 336/5 against Pakistan at the Old Trafford in Manchester.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave India a flying start as they became the first pair to register a 100-run opening-wicket stand for India in a World Cup match against Pakistan. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were fifth among world openers to reach the 100-run mark against Pakistan in World Cup. Rohit and Rahul stitched a 136-run partnership for India as Wahab Riaz gave Pakistan a much-needed breakthrough in the 24th over.

The Indian vice-captain scored his 24th ODI hundred — 140 off 113 balls while KL Rahul (57) played the perfect second fiddle in an opening partnership of 137 runs.

Skipper Virat Kohli switched gears effortlessly during his 77 off 65 balls and also became the quickest to 11,000 ODI runs, eclipsing a 17-year record held by iconic Sachin Tendulkar. Before the start of the match, the Indian captain was on 10943 runs in 221 innings, just 57 runs away from the mark. Before Kohli, the record belonged to Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved the feat in 276 innings (284 matches)

Rohit hit 140, his second century of the tournament and 24th ODI hundred overall.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and opted to bowl against India amid rain forecasts.
