West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering a knee injury in Thursday's opening game defeat against South Africa at the Ferozshah Kotla, Delhi. Bravo attempted to field on his bowling follow through when he fell, after awkwardly twisting his knee. He took no further part in the match. Medical examination on Friday revealed he had suffered a serious injury.
"Unfortunately, he has suffered damage to his knee ligaments. The initial assessment is that he will out for a minimum of four weeks," West Indies media manager Philip Spooner told.
The replacement will be announced once the International Cricket Council gives its okay. Bravo was one of the few real quality players in the struggling Caribbean squad. His injury makes life even more difficult for the team. West Indies take on Netherlands in their next game at Ferozshah Kotla on Monday.
