Time Magazine naming Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in its annual list of top 100 most influential people in the world.
The magazine has ranked Dhoni ahead than Barack Obama and Lionel Messi - something most people would not have imagined. Dhoni, ranked 52nd in the 'Time' top 100 and was the only Indian sportsperson to make the list, which also included four of his compatriots in Mukesh Ambani (61), VS Ramachandran (79), Azim Premji (88) and Aruna Roy (89).
The Indian cricket captain - the most successful to date having led his country to a World Cup triumph after 28 years.
Time described Dhoni as a man who came 'from a small-town family of modest means lacking the pedigree and connections', which, according to the magazine, are otherwise needed in this country for turning successful. Yet his brilliant leadership of the cricket team was the secret behind close to India's 1.21 billion population celebrating the team's victory. According to the magazine "Dhoni doesn't just lead a cricket team; he's also India's captain of hope. And he didn't just win India the World Cup; he also taught India how to win".
Congratulations to Dhoni. We are happy to see MSD name in the Time Magazine's list.
Thank You
